When I am making gear decisions, I am constantly trying to balance cost, portability, and quality. It would be easy if the kind folks at Nikon sent me a compliment of fixed zooms and full frame bodies, accompanied by an assistant to carry it all for me. However, that isn’t the world I photograph in. I am trying to make cost effective images wherever I go. Whether that is hiking, riding, commuting, traveling, or scuba diving. Therefore my decisions are geared around kits that compliment my lifestyle. I know I’m not alone in this endeavor and many of my photography friends are involved in the same decision making process. Knowing that, I decided to publish my findings if I came across something (either software/hardware) that worked well as a member of my team.

Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with the companies that produce these products. However, if they ever wanted to send me something, I would happily accept it. I am sure the world needs more Nikkor 400mm 2.8 AFS VRs coupled with D3X reviews, and I would be more than willing to help out (wink…wink…Yasuyuki Okamoto).
